I was born in Vietnam in a small farm away from the city surrounded by nature. I remember exploring the country in awe of nature’s beauty. At the age of 10, my family and I immigrated to the United States to the Bay Area. Art has been a part of me as far back as I can remember. Since I was a little girl, I devoted my free time to painting and drawing. I wanted to study art and enrolled in San Francisco State University and received my Bachelors Degree in 2001. During my time at college I discovered ceramics and fell in love with the medium. I taught ceramics at Kids’N’Clay to young children for six years. Teaching art to children was the most joyous and rewarding experience of my life. I learn so much about the pottery making, young artists have so many fun ideas and I learned to make playful art from my students. After I developed my own style of art, I decided to start selling my creations at local shows and created a studio in my garage. I discovered jewelry making after a good friend taught me how to make a bracelet. I was hooked and have been making jewelry for the past 10 years along side with my ceramic s. The beauty and exquisiteness of the natural world provide the best inspiration and idea for my art work. I am grateful to be able to find balance between this two medium. Clay is a physical labor of love and jewelry making is a very relaxing medium to clam me down.

My Jewelry is inspired by the exquisite beauty of nature. I like to study the leaves of tree or plant and the combination of colors in the leaves and flowers. Branches and twigs, the patterns of leaf growth, even the shape of tree or plant itself can inspire ideas for my earrings, bracelets, necklace, and rings. I enjoy collecting all difference types of stones. I go to different gem shows to look for the best material to use on my jewelry making. I do mostly wire wrapping and beading work with the finest materials such as freshwater pearls, gemstones, silver and gold-filled wire . My jewelry appeals to women of all ages for daily use and for special occasions such as weddings and holiday events.

In my ceramics I create playful, happy and whimsical critters that puts a smile on people faces when people see them. The flower pattern on my bowls, mugs, vases and platters are hand painted and inspired from cherry blossom flowers, Chinese lantern flowers, lotus, and roses. My work is done mostly on the potter’s wheel and then some hand build, and fired in an electric kiln at the 1,200 degree. I do not use any kind of mold to create my work, each piece is one of a kind, with it’s own unique personality that touches your hearts and makes people smile.
The purpose of my art work is to bring the beauty of nature and happiness to this world for all people to enjoy.
